LEGO Assignment
Our first assignment for the Intro to 3D Modeling class was to model a Lego man. I've made many of these guys, but I didn't think any of them were cool enough to be put in the application. I've settled with Usagi Yojimbo from Stan Sakai's graphic novels.

Character Stuff
This is after the alien has crashed and he's been wandering through the desert for a while... |
He winds up in Snake Oil Springs! |
The alien fashions himself a snazzy outfit complete with boot hat, button belt, and a horsetail wig and mustache... |

Cartooning is the sincerest form of flattery...right?
I caricatured my drawing teacher, Jared Greenleaf, during class.
Still not proficient in Photoshop, but tried my best.
Character Design - Animalz!
I've spent a lot of time drawing the animals at the Bean, so I decided to "give them life" (yes, pun was intended) by doing a little character design.

Sketchbook Dump (3/10/11)
So, I've spent a fair amount of time sketching with a BiC pen. The reason for this is A) It helps me draw faster since I'm not obsessing over perfection (you can't erase) B) The teachers have urged us students to draw more in pen.
I've been drawing in the Monte L. Bean museum quite a bit. These drawings took anywhere from 7-10 minutes with some of them taking a bit longer. I like the way they turned out, so I posted them. Ta-daaa!!

Gesture Drawings Again (3-2-11)
These are more gesture drawings... I feel like I'm improving, but still have a LOOOOOONG way to go.
I drew them on smooth newsprint with conte' crayon. They're dark because I took the pictures with my trusty iPhone.
Character Design Again (3-2-11)
I like the design for the girl...and that's just about it. As for the robo-panda tiger...I don't even know what I was thinking. "Wrench" was the first name I could come up with...(sigh) |
I still like the over-sized feet. So sue me... |
Emulating classic Disney Glen Keane style with the face and eyes... |
They were all taken from my sketchbook, scanned, and cleaned up in Photoshop.
