Holy Smokes!

So...I was looking at some concept and fan art for the Tron movie (yes, I'm STILL addicted to it) and I found THIS on Google images!!

BUZZ LIGHTYEAR'S ON DA GRIIIID!
(all credit goes to the awesome person who made this...whoever he or she is!)

Superman vs A Clever Child with Kryptonite... a standoff.

Garret Hoyos and Ethan Hunsaker, two very productive and clever BYU students, created a blog called 'BYU Battles' They'll post a theme each week and anyone (except I'm guessing that have to be at BYU as name implies) can submit artwork reflecting their take on that theme. This last week's theme was "Superheroes." I chose to go with a comedic take and make fun of good ol' Superman.

I GOT IN!

Friends, it's been a while since I've posted anything on my blog...so I figure I'd break the drought with some very VERY good news. I GOT INTO THE ANIMATION PROGRAM!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

Obviously, I'm excited to get started, but I think it's time I focused on the mission. It's been a long, upward battle to get to where I could even consider the mission as a possibility, and I think my time at BYU and all the wonderful people I've met along the way have contributed largely to that.

These are happy times (VERY happy times), but these are anxious times as well...

My Application for the Program

After two weeks of blood, sweat, and literally tears, the application is done. I feel like I did the best I could, but only time will tell if I make it in the program. Fingers crossed y'all!

LEGO Assignment

Our first assignment for the Intro to 3D Modeling class was to model a Lego man. I've made many of these guys, but I didn't think any of them were cool enough to be put in the application. I've settled with Usagi Yojimbo from Stan Sakai's graphic novels.

Character Stuff

This is after the alien has crashed and he's been wandering through the desert for a while...

He winds up in Snake Oil Springs!

The alien fashions himself a snazzy outfit complete with boot hat, button belt, and a horsetail wig and mustache...

Here are some Photoshop-colored drawings from my sketchbook about a little yellow alien that crash lands on earth and stumbles into the wild west... (I had this idea BEFORE I knew about Rango or Cowboys & Aliens)

Sculpting in Sculptris

An ogre I made in Sculptris for kicks and giggles.

Cartooning is the sincerest form of flattery...right?

I caricatured my drawing teacher, Jared Greenleaf, during class.
Still not proficient in Photoshop, but tried my best.

Character Design - Animalz!

I've spent a lot of time drawing the animals at the Bean, so I decided to "give them life" (yes, pun was intended) by doing a little character design.

Sketchbook Dump (3/10/11)

So, I've spent a fair amount of time sketching with a BiC pen. The reason for this is A) It helps me draw faster since I'm not obsessing over perfection (you can't erase) B) The teachers have urged us students to draw more in pen.

I've been drawing in the Monte L. Bean museum quite a bit. These drawings took anywhere from 7-10 minutes with some of them taking a bit longer. I like the way they turned out, so I posted them. Ta-daaa!!
